ABOUT CARRIE
Dr. Carrie Buck is a nationally recognized educator with a commitment to success we can count on. She currently serves as Executive Director of Pinecrest Academy, a public charter school with 4 campuses in Henderson and Las Vegas. She engages with students, parents, and teachers each and every day.
She started teaching elementary school for Clark County School District in 1996 and has been honored by both local and national organizations for her commitment to helping students achieve. Carrie taught for several years in Henderson at Gordon McCaw Elementary School and Ulis Newton Elementary School. In 2001, she started serving as an ELL Specialist and a Mentor Teacher and served as an Assistant Principal at David Cox, Newton, and Cunningham.
In 2006, she was appointed principal of C.T. Sewell Elementary School. When she first arrived, C.T. Sewell was a low performing school with even lower morale. Carrie brought a clear vision and sincere passion to a failing school in need of reform. Today, Sewell is a renewed campus, full of life, energy, and academic success.
As the principal of an at-risk school, Carrie saw the damage that a failing school and stagnant wages can do to a community. In reverse, she also watched the community reap the benefits when students were successful in a positive and engaging school environment.
As your State Senator, Carrie will fight for you every single day. She knows that bureaucracy often hurts the classroom and will fight to keep more money where it matters: closer to children in their classrooms. As a parent and a leader who is committed to improving our education system, she believes in the investment in our children and their future. Carrie has what it takes to endure and overcome the bureaucratic obstacles and challenges that threaten Nevada's future.
